Values are taught by your entire environment. I agree that parenting isn't always what it should be. I also believe young people look at all the people they perceive as older, superior or "in charge." If those people set a good example the youngster may still err but they know they are doing wrong. They will have no justification for bad conduct or actions. However, if they can hang their hat on the fact that even the President of the USA lies, cheats, etc. then it is really easy to justify that anything is right that you can get by with. To confirm that fact, just look at President Clinton and Vice President Gore.
