North Korea doesn't have enough money for a good fireworks show. Read up on the subject. They are dead broke

They don't have enough wealth to feed their people, but they can still build nuclear weopons as the country starves.
Would that be logical? No, but then few have accused the North Korean government of being the most rational collection of people on the planet.
