Less than I worry yet another Presidential campaign being wasted in political smear and not discussing the policies that will affect people's lives.
***Oh sure let's just ignore the character of the individual again, look what that got us. No thanks, I don't want another Clinton. Gore can not be trusted. He lied about the Buddhist fundraiser. He made illegal fundraising calls from the White House and claimed "No controlling legal authority." What the hell is that? He has his own e-mail system at the White House that doesn't archive his e-mails. Why? What is he hiding?
Gore proposes more government and more control. No thank you.

Sure, let's ignore policy, and how decisions and proposals affect people's lives. Politicking by character assassination. I'd take another Clinton over either of these two yokels in a heartbeat, based on demonstrated ability. The last eight years have been particularly good ones for this country. Contrary to the smear, Gore is an honest public servant and a good man, and Bush is a decent fellow as well. Gore has put ideas on the table as the centerpiece of his campaign, proposals that affect peoples lives. Some may have merit and some may not. The Bush campaign has put forward proposals as well; some may have merit (I personally don't see many), and some may not (well, lots of them don't). That should be the topic of conversation instead of smear. I want to hear about how Social Security is kept viable, how to make our streets safer, how to preserve those freedoms that make this country unique in the world. I want to hear about whether the surpluses are real, and how one deals with a $5 Trillion debt. Or any number of other issues. It does the partisan heart good to indulge in smear and name-calling, and eliminates the need to think about things, doesn't it, though?

Liar, moron, pot-head, coke-head, liberal, fascist ...

... and we all lose.

Republicans can do better. If they did, it would force Democrats to do better, too. Or is it that the Bush and GOP believe they cannot win on the issues?
