"Outlook Cloudy

But it's still unclear whether phones will ever be the right platform for
Internet use. Many think Palm Pilots are a better model."

Frankly I never bought this BS about the world switching from PALM's to internet phones overnight, leaving PALM high and dry.

When I first started posting here (a few months back, I posted my thoughts about it- maybe you remember). I think that Data is MUCH more difficult to do than Voice.

So all these intenet phones are only going to be web browsers. What about all the PIM/datebook/games/productivity apps/databases/GPS's/handwriting recog./communication/<whoknowswhaatinthefuture> apps out there for the PALM (more than 6500 and counting) with 100K+ developers pounding out apps for it.

How are these "magical" WAP phones going to replace that?

What about compilers, debuggers, documentatione etc. Has any of these phone companies ever put out a programmable consumer product? Its not that easy as they think.

Why do you think that both Nokia and Motorola have teamed with PALM to provide the programmable shell for their next gen products?

No, I'm not worried about the WAP phones (at least without palm in them). I'm more worried about MS (with WinCE) making an aggressive push.

greg nus posted some scary numbers a few posts back, claiming that COmpaq has increased production of iPaq's to 400K/month.

That's 1.2million/Q! If they really think that they can sell those many, then this market is in for a rough ride.

He did not provide a link. I'm waiting for it.
