100cfm: Is there a natural use of i mode with CDMA?

Dr J has questioned whether WAP has more than a temporary role in CDMA wireless, since CDMA has always used IP and can connect directly to the internet without intermediary.

Since one of the strengths of i mode seems to be that it can be used in lieu of WAP, is there an opportunity for CDMA and i mode to reenforce each other as a means of strengthening the wireless / internet connection?

Clearly the major strength of i mode as used by DoCoMo in Japan is ease of access to content which is popular in Japan, especially among teenagers. That part may not be easily transferred outside Japan.

But using i mode rather than WAP with CDMA with its IP built in, might be.
