I'm waiting for the link too. I wonder if the figure is per quarter instead of per month.

But judging upon what all the store reps tell me, this is the one product customers are demanding.

The price really isn't a barrier. It's $499 and the unit weighs 6.3 oz. I bought a HWP 548 that weighs more than the iPaq (despite both have 32 mb, and the iPaq has a 206 mhz processor) and costs $549. The $499 cost compares to the $399 for the Palm Vx, which is the top of the line for Palm (8 mb, 4 oz, non-color). A difference of $100 really isn't too much of a barrier when holding the two. Especially when considering the product differentiations.

Can anybody recall the last time Carl was on CNBC? I thought he explicitly stated that new products would be offered in the fall. This interview was about 3 months ago (so maybe it was the next to last time he was on).

I can not see Palm not having a new product for the holiday season. It just wouldn't make sense.

A couple of other issues pertaining to the iPaq. I can't backorder the product on the Compaq website -- despite the fact that the other PDA models can be ordered.

Many electronic stores have a waiting list in the hundreds for the iPaq. I am on a waiting list, but I am also on a raincheck list. The raincheck list means I would receive the product immediately when it came in. I have been on this list for 2-months.

The Compaq iPaq H3650 was rated the #1 PDA in terms of features in the latest Technology Investor magazine. It is definately a threat to the competition.

Worst case scenario: if iPaq's are being ramped to 400k per month, how would this effect the PDA Palm O/S market share percentage?
