I am wondering if I/we shouldn't just sell out of everything next time this comes around...I sold out of techs, high flyers, etc. but kept or bought other things ( some reits, some metals, some beaten-down retailers, etc). I don't think it helped my portfolio much, took up my time and you had to time the market pretty well to make money. My big problem was thinking that I/we could find some stocks that would continue to go up in price regardless of what the market did...big mistake, for the most part.

As a part-time investor, it seems that trading for six months a year would be efficient and rewarding.
