I read the story in Friday's WSJ about this idiot who applies bumper stickers to the SUVs he sees in parking lots criticizing their low mileage. In other words, he defaces the private property of others to express his opinion. A hero? I don't think so.

There are a lot of people in this country who fought in the Pacific theater in WWII and refuse to have anything to do with anything Japanese. (I don't agree with them; my last car was made in Japan). Many of them suffered terribly at the hands of our former enemy, and I certainly see their point and would probably be in agreement with them had I walked in their shoes in WWII. Does this give them the right to deface your Honda? I don't think so. It gives them the right to avoid buying Hondas and to try to peacefully convince other people to their point of view.

You pointed out in a previous post that just because something is legal doesn't make it right. I agree. I don't think that just because someone believes fervently in something, even the need to conserve energy or minimize global warming, he doesn't have the right to deface the vehicle that I bought and paid for.

BTW, when I want to find a hero, I look for the guys who fought in WWII, defending our right to argue about which cars to drive, and other more important things.
