So Tice preserved capital when the market when sideways. What's the big deal? How did he do when the market went up? In summary, if Tice's performance can be met or exceeded by shorting the S&P (since he plays ont he bear side), that makes him simply an average performer. Period. Again, it is damn hard to beat the indices, short or long.
