>>>CISCO DANCING

In a market as bearish as the current one, the question that everyone is asking is whether this type of growth can be sustained.

It's certainly a legitimate question, considering that Juniper and Redback are trading at 453 and 239 times 2001 earnings, respectively. That's a hefty price tag.

But these companies have been able to turn profits while actually taking market share from Cisco, which trades at about 67 times 2001 earnings estimates, and they are both have higher growth rates than Cisco, so we're willing to accept the high P/E multiples.

Analysts expect Redback and Juniper to post average annual earnings growth of 50 percent over the next three to five years, compared to 32 percent for Cisco.

With fears of a networking equipment slowdown waning and considering that experts are predicting growth to continue unabated for at least the next several years, it's hard not to like Juniper and Redback.

Two years ago it would have been impossible to imagine Cisco not being the best play in the Internet infrastructure market, but this is Internet time we're dealing with. And Juniper and Redback are coming up fast.<<<
