I had twelve years of Catholic education and never once was a distinction made to the kids re mortal sins. If you were unlucky enough to die in the state of mortal sin, it was off to hell with you for eternity. Kinda rigid, huh? OTH, we were told the Big Guy up there was not only all-knowing but all-loving. It was just a bit later that I began to think that there was a bit of a discrepancy there. Thing is, it just wasn't very safe to THINK if you wanted to remain a good Catholic. R
