Hi Sharck,

Thanks for your reply. :)

Re: Ottawa Citizen/Innovance - That's either some very impressive sleuthing, or you're local. <g>

It would appear that Innovance is trying this on a relative shoestring, as far as funding is concerned. A comparable might be another stealth mode company, Mahi Networks, which secured a second round of USD 64MM last summer, or Digital Lightwave which has funding well over USD 100MM. There are a number of other examples as well.

OTOH, the management team does seem to be quite strong. I'm getting the sense from reading LightReading that LU and NT are both suffering from a tremendous amount of brain drain as the best and the brightest move on to more entrepreneurial settings.

As an aside, the interesting tidbit that I gleaned from the article was the lowered blood pressure for Kalkoven. I'd assumed that his abrupt departure from JDSU was medically related, thought there was scant news on the matter. I had been afraid that Mr. Kalkoven was taking his uncle's suggestion, which he fondly repeated at every possible opportunity, that "one should never leave a party until the booze was all gone". <gg>

Best, Ray
