BARR, the world's leading provider of trace drug and explosive detection equipment, announced today that it has been selected in a competitive procurement by the BAA (formerly the British Airport Authority) to provide its IONSCAN(R) explosives trace detectors for all BAA managed airports in the United Kingdom. Additionally, in a separate competitive procurement, Barringer was awarded a contract directly from Manchester Airport for IONSCAN(R) explosive trace detectors. These combined procurements are valued at up to $3.1 million, with deliveries beginning immediately. It is expected that deliveries will be completed during the first half of 2001.
Mr. Kenneth Wood, President and Chief Operating Officer of Barringer Technologies, said, "We're very excited about these significant procurements. The BAA has been regarded as a leader in aviation security, and has continuously been in the forefront for implementing advanced security technology."
