Mike, I think that's a very fair statement...I think those involved in the delivery of medical care in the US, whether it be doctors, nurses, ethicists, allied profs..whatever, have done the public a great disservice by not signing on to a definition of when life begins , or at least having a serious discourse on this issue...thus we have righters running around with their nose bent all out of shape over this RU486, which I think is GREAT for women....because they fail to distinguish between an 8-cell blastosphere and a third trimester fetus...that aborting a blastosphere is the same as aborting a fetus, or as the rightests say, that "murdering" a blastosphere is the same as "murdering" a fetus..the former doesn't bother me at all, but the latter is as horrifying to me as it is to the rightests... without a clear definition as to what life is and when "life" begins, we are stuck with the rightest idea that "life" begins with conception, as opposed to , say, after full organogenesis...we have thus accorded the same rights to both 8 cells and a full term fetus...doesn't make sense to me doc |
