Murali, Something needs to be done to address such situation. Do you honestly think that hate-crime legislation will help? I believe that such legislation will only make matters worse - the law of unintended consequences at its finest. Such a law is only going to further the hate towards the groups that are already hated. Don't you see that this will just inflame the situation? I find it ironic that you are discussing this at the same time you are discussing the mideast crisis. Both are fueled by hatreds that are ingrained. Hate crime laws will just ingrain these hatreds further. Can't you see this? Please rethink your position, it may make you feel better to have a law like this on the books, but will it make matters better?
