I agree with you. No speech, unless directly inciting violence, should be repressed.

But to protect people who may be targets of class violence- espoused by hate groups, I do believe that hate crimes are a nice corollary to allowing hate speech. I think it sends the right message, the message that I hope our country is all about- you can THINK anything you want, you can SAY almost anything you want, but you can't DO anything you want. But this is not a final arbitration- this is merely my judgment on public policy.
