DG: LRCX also gave pretty optimistic guidance after stating its earnings last week -- could be a good one to dip into on the extreme weakness. I'm eyeing KLAC here in the mid-20s, too. (I haven't bought LRCX or KLAC yet, but am watching them for any indications of a looming reversal.)

If there is a substantial slowdown in the semi industry, what will happen to the planned capex expenditures to upgrade fabs to 300 mm? Will this investment simply be scrapped, or will this upgrade still occur? I'd imagine that a tightening semi environment could actually lead manufacturers to upgrade faster in order to squeeze out costs by using more efficient processes. I don't really hear the analysts saying a lot about 300 mm right now, but it obviously is an important question when evaluating the semi-equipment stocks.
