Milo, AMD certainly doesn't have as much cash as Intel. But I don't quite know why that matters, unless things tank to the point of actually losing money and having to dip into reserves for operating costs. If AMD had the relative cash hoard that Intel does, it could start playing financial engineering games too, perish the thought.

Funny thing about a price war, as long as AMD isn't relegated to the cheap stuff, it looks a lot better off under those circumstances than Intel does, as AMD's ASPs are much lower to start with. On straight up terms, Intel would be in big trouble if it had to compete purely on price. As it is, Intel's problem isn't making money, it's showing growth to justify its earnings multiple. Sadly, AMD doesn't have to do much at all to justify its pathetic PE at these prices.

Cheers, Dan.
