10/17 12:42P Dia Met Minerals To Seek Bids For Company >DMMA

VANCOUVER (Dow Jones)--Dia Met Minerals Ltd. (DMMA) plans to seek bids for
the purchase of the company's outstanding shares.
In a press release Tuesday, the mining company said its board decided to
take this action after having been advised by two shareholders, who together
own about a 38% voting and equity interest, that they are willing to entertain
offers to sell the shares they own or control.
The two shareholders agreed with Dia Met to refrain from selling their
shares privately, for a period of time, in order to permit the company to
undertake a full bidding process.
Dia Met has hired Credit Suisse First Boston Corp. (Z.CSF) as its investment
adviser for this process.
Dia Met's Class A shares were recently halted at 16.50, down 0.55, in
Toronto, while Class B shares were halted at 18.10, down 0.15.
