Thread,

Interesting to see how stock has fallen in face of good news. AMD has a clear 200MHz lead in the highest volume desktop segment and is likely to have 333MHz lead before P4 appears - even P4 will not stop AMD from gaining market share because of the expected slow ramp. Talk about confused market!

I also find the talk about Flash alone being worth $20 somewhat ironic since I have been making a case for spinning off flash for the last year or more and many players felt the need to hang on to flash.

AMD stockholders could have benefitted dramatically if AMD spun off FLASH during the last year - it is possibly the single bold strategic move that will improve the company's valuation and make the CPU side stronger.
The issue of stock buyback is also very appropriate - both as a good use of money and as a confidence building move. It is downright ridiculous for this company to be valued where it is.

If anyone feels this way please feel free to write a letter to AMD management.

Chuck

P.S.: CY had great earnings and guidance and still being killed. So, it is just not AMD but I don't believe there is another major semiconductor company with a PE of less than 8.
