Paul,

I looked for some information on Lawrence Semiconductor and found that several references I came up with were about Silicon-Germanium. This technology is a potential replacement for Gallium Arsenide in many applications. IBM and Analog Devices have been developing chips using this material. It runs at about the speed of GaAs, but is easier to handle since the substrate is silicon. It doesn't have the same temperature range as GaAs, but has the potential to be much less expensive to produce. They seem to be working on SiGeC which I assume is a form of Silicon Carbide. SiC is very difficult to work with but has the high temperature properties that make GaAs attractive.

ATMI is looking very good.
