Windsock,
RE:"You have things TOTALLY wrong.

Rambus requires those that sign an RDRAM license to refrain from saying "bad things" about RDRAM. This is what the Intel Agreement says and all the "standard" Rambus Agreements.

Both Intel and AMD have licenses and neither has said anything "bad" about RDRAM. Of course not much "good" has been said lately about RDRAM either"

Ok then, I stand corrected. Actually I was giving Intel the benefit of the doub because if the repercussions weren't that bad and they stuck with Rambus then they were really stupid...and more heads need to roll. OTOH, P4 first sillycon was about last December...that was just a month or two after it became evident Rambus was going to be a problem. I guess they figured it was either too late to turn back and redesign the core or they figured they had a year to promote Rambus and make it cheaper. Either way...they miscalculated...

Jim

PS...it is rather interesting that Rambus makes licensees sign something to the effect they won't say anything bad about Rambus. This is suspicious...Lawyer mumbo jumbo.
WHy license it if you think you might say something bad about it?//
