Tim, as I posted to John earlier, AMD's prices for 1ghz parts, 200mhz off the top of the line, are a little higher than Intel's price for 800mhz parts, 200 mhz off the top of the line. If you want to do it on percentages, the closest match is the PIII 850, which is priced almost exactly the same as the ghz Athlon. Plus, by all indications, the 1.2 ghz Tbird has more headroom above 1.2ghz than the PIII has above 1ghz.

If AMD is getting bulk production of 1ghz Athlons, the current price is reasonable. AMD should be nice to Intel? Like Intel was nice to AMD when they were shipping $50 celeries against the k6? I don't think Intel's shipping any $50 parts now.

Cheers, Dan.
