Singapore Cable Vision Chooses Terayon's Terajet Modems As it Expands Its Broadband Services

SANTA CLARA, Calif., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Terayon Communication Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: TERN - news) a world leader in broadband access systems, today announced that
Singapore Cable Vision (SCV) has selected Terayon's TeraJet(TM) cable modems for its growing Internet access service. SCV is Singapore's only cable television operator and second broadband service provider with more than 23,000 subscribers for its popular MaxOnline broadband Internet access service.

``Demand for, and response to, SCV MaxOnline, our broadband Internet service has been simply overwhelming. We are delighted to welcome Terayon as our latest partner who
provides us with high-performance cable modems that create a completely new and enjoyable user experience for surfing the Internet,'' said Thomas Ee, SCV's senior vice president,
Broadband Engineering Services.

Cable modems operate over cable networks, which have greater bandwidth capacity than standard telephone networks, enabling cable subscribers to surf the Internet dozens of times faster than analog telco dial-up modems. Terayon has shipped more than one million cable modems to date, ranking it as the second leading supplier of cable modems worldwide
according to Cahners In-Stat Group, a leading market industry research firm.

``SCV has opened the door to broadband access in Singapore and we are excited to be part of their effort. We are committed to working with SCV, and other leading operators
worldwide, to continue the global expansion of the broadband revolution,'' said Zaki Rakib, Terayon's CEO.

In addition to Singapore, Terayon's cable modem systems have also been widely deployed elsewhere in Asia, including China, Hong Kong, Japan and Korea. In Japan, Terayon's
customers include Jupiter Communications, the nation's largest cable operator. Hong Kong's leading broadband service provider, i-CABLE, is also deploying Terayon; as is Shenzhen CATV, the largest operator in the Chinese city of Shenzhen; and Cable and Multimedia Communication, the largest operator in Korea.

Complementing its TeraJet line of modems which are CableLabs Certified(TM) to meet the DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) cable modem standard, Terayon
also offers modems meeting the European DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) standard and a widely-deployed system based on Terayon's S-CDMA (Synchronous Code Division
Multiplexing) technology.

SCV completed the construction of its island-wide broadband network in Singapore in September 1999 and was designated as a public telecommunications licensee in April 2000. There
are currently 237,000 homes subscribing to SCV MaxTV, the company's cable TV service and 23,000 homes on SCV MaxOnline, the broadband Internet access service via the cable modem. More information on SCV can be found on www.scv.com.sg.
