md, Now, my wife's position is very interesting. She is left oriented (voted Jessie Jackson, green as they come, very natural foods, beautiful person). She considers pro-life to be the ultimate left position (as opposed to a feminist approach, which considers the issue to be about the woman's power). She considers the life process to begin at conception, and it is big business (or some similar enemy) interfering to stop the process. Life in its most natural expressions are sacrosanct, which seems very consistent with the left, except in the case of abortion. She defends life from conception to the grave in any form. And she is consistent. She would not use and I.U.D., for obvious reasons. After our last child I was shown the couch until I visited a doctor. I am proud to say I never slept on the couch! I respect that very much, though I am not so thorough-going with anything I know of.
