Can anyone here advise how currency fluctuations impact Nokia shares? Of particular interest are the fluctuations in the exchange rates between the US, Finland, and Europe. The currencies of China and Japan may become important in the near future. Finland has stuck with the Finnish Mark, avoiding the move to the Euro so far. The Euro has dropped like a rock vs the US$. Right now 1 dollar will buy 6.96 Finnish Marks. Given that Nokia has manufacturing in countries other than Finland, the impact of currency fluctuations may be hard to determine. And, I suppose, from our perspective here in the US, earnings in Finnish Marks have to be converted to US$ to gauge how the ADR has performed. Clearly one of the big impacts of the falling Euro is that Europeans have had less cash to spend due to the spiraling cost of oil (which is US$ based). Any thoughts would be appreciated.
