The Brits designed and built the largest airport possible, and charged a premium for it. Yes, a lot of filipino contract workers were missing when the airport was finally completed. No one ever claimed to know what happened to them.

When the Brits ruled, a British male typically had the senior position, and a Hong Kong lady had the next-level position. When the Brits left, there was only one qualified person remaining to take on the senior level positions.

I don't believe it saved the market, but in fact will only postpone the ultimate outcome of things. Now that the HKSAR already owns those Blue Chip stocks, what cash will they use to buy more of the blue chip stocks during the next crash?
