Parthus pioneers new processor Killik Viewpoint:
Parthus Technologies (PRH, 287.5p) has launched a groundbreaking new microchip design that looks set to change the pace of development of all future mobile communications devices. The company, which licenses its intellectual property, developed the technology, which is effectively a single chip computer, to be used to power a variety of different mobile digital devices.
  Called Infostream
Parthus worked with handheld computer maker, Psion, to develop the revolutionary design, and both Psion and Motorola have already signed up to license it for their next generation devices. Infostream's strength is its ability to combine processing power with low power consumption, both of which are critical factors for many next generation devices. Manufacturers who license the technology will also benefit from vastly reduced costs and time to market considerations.
  To benefit ARM Holdings
The Infostream's techonology uses the company's 920T chip (already used in most mobile phones). Psion should also benefit as InfoStream is optimized for the Symbian operating system, although it can also run Microsoft Pocket PC, Linux and Palm systems.
Revenues up 204% Parthus also announced third quarter figures today, showing widening losses. However these are largely irrelevant and license and royalty revenues were up 204% to $4.5m from $1.5m. Currently capitalized at just 1.4bn, we believe
Parthus has a bright future ahead of it, and the shares remain a strong BUY .
