in short: AMCC chips --> Astral Point gear --> Time Warner Telecom fiber network
it's OK, you're not ignorant, as i've been told that i tend toward the cryptic. (alas, i don't have a chiseled mug, so i gots to use what i got.) i did think that that particular one was on the blunt side, but i guess my point is that AMCC has successfully "diversified" itself into non-NT designs, specifically, Alcatel, Ciena, Cisco, Hitachi, JDS-Uniphase, Juniper, Lucent, Sycamore, Tellabs. i didn't listen to the call, but i got the drift that Avici and Astral Point are new wins, and while not material to AMCC's numbers today, are on the horizon (i.e., say a Juniper or Sycamore a few quarters ago).
if i started an optical/router company, i think i'd call it Bonzai! |
