A commendation ceremony was held for five Hong Kong and six China companies selected by Forbes Magazine to be among the 300 Best Small Companies.

The function was jointly organised by the Hong Kong Productivity Council, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, and The Better Hong Kong Foundation on October 16.

Included in the list were Cafe de Coral (0341-HK, OTCBB: CFCGF), Computer & Tech (0046-HK, OTCBB: ), Kingboard Chem (0148-HK), Technology Venture (0061-HK) and the unlisted Global Sources in Hong Kong.

The China winners were Asianinfo Holdings, China Vanke, Netease.com, Sina.com, Sohu.com and Sun Television Cybernetworks.

In addition, two of these companies, namely Global Sources Ltd and Sun Television Cybernetworks, were elevated to Forbes' 20 for 2001, the ultimate "star performers" among the 300.
