GE Fund Manager Sees Steady Demand for
PCs
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Some of the bloom may be off the ''dot-com''
business but the personal computer is not about to become a relic, a GE
Asset Management analyst said on Tuesday.

``The PC is not dead,'' Mark Mitchell, vice president and technology analyst,
said at a meeting with reporters. ``It's growing very steadily.'' He said he
expects 15 percent unit growth this year.

Mitchell said that while the Internet faces a great future as more businesses
make greater use of it, the ``dot-com'' part of it is another story. ``The
Internet is not about dot-com's,'' Mitchell said. He predicted that 90 percent
of the dot-com companies won't be around in a few years.

A favorite stock remains Dell Computer Corp. (NasdaqNM:DELL - news), a company
with ``great
management,'' Mitchell said. The company is the world's second-largest computer maker.

Other favorite tech stocks include Texas Instruments Inc. (NYSE:TXN - news) and
Analog Devices Inc.
(NYSE:ADI - news), Mitchell said.

GE Asset Management, the investment arm of General Electric Co. (NYSE:GE - news),
manages about $120
billion for institutions and individuals worldwide. The total includes about $2.6 billion in 21
retail mutual funds. A
spokesman said the retail funds have experienced ``steady inflows'' this year.
