he was not describing the Theistic position True, but often a critic will embed their deepest weakness into an argument, and try to pin it on the opposing side. In this case ethics based on religion is ultimately based on magic and interpretation. Ethics based on reason is harder to define in concrete and absolute ways, but it is defendable on some basis of harms and preventions. TP (FYI - I am an atheist, I can explain how and why if anyone cares)
