Ken- That article got it pretty much correct. It's pretty much Antec(the new Arris, Inc.) will be the access equipment provider, while Nortel will be everything else upstream. Arris will be free to market to the world and Nortel will help. Kind of like Alcatel was the DSL access equipment provider to Newbridge's ATM switches.

Really the deal is taking Arris Interactive public by folding it into Antec. Sounds like a good idea to me, but the numbers have yet to be laid out.

This does allow Antec to increase their margins substantially on Cornerstone products and bring the growth figures of Arris Interactive into the public arena. Nortel buried Arris Interactive in their reporting in the past. Arris Interactive did go from zero sales five years ago, to what looks to be a $500 million business this year. Now Antec will be able to show that off and hopefully, get some value out of it.

It sure could have been explained better, but what else is new with Antec.

PS I hope they bring some top level talent from Nortel over to the board of the new Arris, Inc. Someone needs to explain to Antec how to operate a public company starting with their poor, poor communications ability and an overhaul of their poor website.
