Sid - What is the competetive advantage of MCFC for stationary power generation over combine cycle combustion turbine units (CTU). CTU's in combined cycle have efficiencies of 50%

with future efficiencies of up to 60%

With cogeneration efficincies can get as high as 90%.

What is the efficiency of the ERC fuel cells (about 40% or more with natural gas?). What are the economics compared to CTU's

Fuel cells when compared to the effciency of the internal combustion engine (ICE) come out better since the ICE has a peak efficiency of about 25%. Perhaps this is the reason that there is more investor interest in transportation related fuel cells over stationary generation. There is simply a mush greater efficiency increase hence greater economic and environmental advantage to be realized.
