Mr. Hugh Ross reports
Sloane Petroleums has completed its results of current gas-focused drilling and
workover program at its 25-per-cent working interest acreage in the Provost area
of east-central Alberta.
Sloane recently cased a well that, on drill stem testing, flowed at rates of eight
million cubic feet of gas per day over a five-metre gas sand of early Cretaceous
age. The test did not recover any water. The company plans to production test
this well prior to month-end, and should the test prove successful, the well would
then be tied into the company's 25-per-cent-owned facilities and gathering system.
The initial well in this drilling program did not encounter commercial quantities of
hydrocarbons and has been abandoned.
Sloane is also participating as to its 25-per-cent working interest in two wells that
have been shut in for several years and have potential Viking gas behind pipe. The
workover on the initial wellbore has yielded sufficient encouragement to proceed
with a production test and a possible tie-in into the company's existing facilities
prior to year-end. Work on the second well should begin shortly.
