Yes, I got your point..Iwasn't suggesting that the medical profession have special status in resolving these issues alone, rather that the profession "signs on" to scientific facts on the embryogenesis of a human life which the ethicists, politician, or whoever can use to form a basic set of defining principles for society as a whole..the problem is that both sides of the abortion issue are working from different definitions as to what constitues life and who gets accorded "inalienable rights"..until the definition is unified, the two sides cannot resolve the issue outside of rhetoric and politics, and we are stuck with idiotic statements that ru486 murders the unborn and the like
