Your concerns seem totally unfounded. Please note a few points which seem relevant:

1. Bill Clinton (the current President -- remember him?) is an admitted technology dimwit. Can he type? Does it matter?

2. The Republican Congress has enacted all sorts of legislation facilitating technology and commerce for the 21st century.

3. It might be much wiser to employ Al Gore, who invented the internet, in the private sector where he might be able to assist with resurrection of the fallen dot.com's, who obviously are not prospering under the current regime.

4. Why are you looking to Europe for leadership or as an example? We broke away from England a couple of centuries ago, to become the world leader, not follower. When I was in school, Europe was called "the Old World." Do you want to go back? LOL.
