CatLady,

Well I have seen the NAZDAQ and if, I recall correctly, the NASDAC and of course the DASDAQUE. But never before have I seen the "NAZDQ".

But here it is: Message 14612297
The start of the road to NASDQ.

To judge the relative popularity of the various spellings, I typed them into Alta Vista, and counted the number of hits:

Spelling AltaVista Page Hits
NASDAQ 671,822
NAZDAQ 22
NASDAC 581
NASDAQUE 2
NASDQ 1,656

limburg.cc
So NASDQ appears to be one of the more common variants. Amazingly, NASDAQUE was only found on two other pages on the Internet. The occurrence here was a vary rare occurrence indeed, and we were extremely lucky to have the opportunity to discuss it here on Thread Morons.

The first occurrence was in a complaint to the SEC about market makers from April, 1998.
ftp.sec.gov The author of the letter appears to have lost some money in a penny stock, that he thinks had less-than-reputable management. Even thought the guy spelled NAZDAC ... er ... NASDACQUE ... er .... NASZDACKQUE .... err ... whatever wrong. He did make a pretty good point here:
was allowed to stay in business for a very long time with the CEO at the helm being an exconvict .... and his PR ... man ... once being in hot water for some sort of securities violation. ... Market Makers should exercise more care in the stocks they choose rather than just selling anything that comes down the road without some due diligence as to the potential quality of the instrument they are peddling. MARKET MAKERS SHOULD KNOW THE SECURITIES THEY TRADE.

Anyhow, I think it's a much more sensible and effective approach for trying to promote change, than SPAMming the SEC with threatening e-mails, like the RB MMANIP guys.

The second occurrence of "NASDAQUE" appears to be in a dialect of English with which I am somewhat unfamiliar. In fact other than "NASDAQUE" there so few correctly spelled words that I hardly recognized it as english at all. They guy that made this web page must have flunked spelling in grade school:

Also aufpassen!!

Regards,
John Sladek
