Just what is a real world benchmark? Is it only the ones that make Intel architecture look bad? Please tell us what benchmark uses the type of applications, simultaneously, that we will be running in the years to come? I'm sure there are plenty that measure performance on yesterday's systems, running one thing at a time. Yesterday's thinking.
SPEC is as good as we have right now. It's the only benchmark published by systems manufacturers. Why do you suppose Compac, HP, IBM, DELL, Fujitsu, SUN and SGI etc etc publish SPEC scores and not quake? It's not Intel's benchmark, it's the industry's benchmark.
You're the one who posted those numbers, not me, not Intel. And if those numbers are correct, they're outstanding. Now just imagine if they're conservative.....
