Dave - Here is a brief summary of the last day I gave a flaming rats rectum about being politically correct. I was working on an Ernst and Young project at Farmer's Insurance in L.A. (not my favorite place to begin with). My team leader was a young man born in Hong Kong. I some point during some conversation or another, I referred to him as being oriental. He then took great pains to explain to me that this was a politically incorrect term, and that the proper term was "asian". WHAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Give me a break for God's sake. Oriental refers to people who have their origin in the orient. To say someone is african or european is now politically incorrect? Do we now use the term asian to refer to people of chinese decent? If so, how can one get the point across that said topic of discussion is NOT for India, which would surely also quallify as being "asian".

Colored people? Negroes? Blacks? African Americans? Does it make one shit of a difference what the **current** name of a racial or ethcin group someone is a member of is? Does it change that person ONE FUCKING IOTA?

Life presents enough real challenges and problems without people spending time trying to define new ones. If they have so much free time on their hands, let em get up off their fat asses and do something about the problems we already have. Once they solve those (hee hee), they can feel free to sit around and think up new ones with no interference from me. Before I worry about what to call someone, I will first worry about whether they have food.

Labels? For those who have them, I can think of a nice place for them where the sun won't disturb them.

Now, whose soapbox was this, anyway?

Mickey
