Host of Comedy Central’s Win Ben Stein’s Money (also teaches law at Pepperdine, also acts, also writes columns and books, both amusing and serious)

We have now seen that Al Gore is simply not emotionally ready for serious responsibility. He is a bullying, belittling, sarcastic thug. When he sidled over next to George W. Bush in a sort of Saturday Night Live imitation of a barroom power play, I realized that to Al Gore, life is deadly contest. He is so fearful of losing, so paranoid of appearing weak, that he crosses over into thuggery.

I respectfully submit that this is not the profile of a man who will obey the laws or respect the Constitution. Al Gore has only one rule: excelsior for Al Gore and oblivion for all who stand in his way. This is a dangerous man. He scares me.

George W. Bush continues to grow and to show his calm, well-mannered self. He did not rise to Gore's baiting lies about his tax plan or his smears of Texas. He is a well-educated man, an accomplished man, but most of all here is the bottom line about Bush: He is an honest, decent man.
