Informix Business Solutions Streamlines Business Intelligence for European Computer Giant WESTBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 19, 2000--
DataStage Quickly Integrates Siemen's SAP R/3 Systems with
Fujitsu's Oracle Applications for Enterprise-wide
Business Intelligence
Informix Business Solutions, an independent operating business of Informix(R) Corporation (Nasdaq: IFMX), today annouNced Fujitsu Siemens Computers is using DataStage(R) as a crucial component for streamlining the newly merged company's business intelligence infrastructure. DataStage provides the data integration platform to link the Fujitsu Oracle Financials application with the Siemens SAP R/3 system, combining them into one Fujitsu Siemens Computers system, allowing data from both application environments to be seamlessly integrated in support of the company's decision support requirements. Today's announcement coincides with Informix Business Solutions' analytics initiative (See related announcement: Informix Announces Industry-specific Packaged Analytic Components, June 13, 2000, at Informix' Web site, www.informix.com). The initiative provides industry-specific business intelligence and e-Business analytic applications that minimize the time, cost, and complexity required to design and build an analytic infrastructure.
"Faced with the two-fold challenge of delivering a tactical solution enabling one financial system to be used with multiple supply chain systems and providing detailed interfaces to the corporate data warehouse, we selected DataStage, a widely recommended and proven solution with an exceptionally large installed base," said George Kirkham, reporting systems manager, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. "DataStage let us pull data out of our SAP R/3 systems in an easily manageable format, getting us started faster than any other solution we considered."
Using DataStage and Informix Business Solutions' Extract Packaged Applications Connection Kit (PACK) for SAP R/3, SAP data is merged with other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) data on a nightly basis, saving the merged company time and resources. The data is mapped, aggregated and reformatted in useful structures for strategic decision support and analysis by business managers. Extract PACK combines a set of integrated components for data movement, meta data management, and data quality assurance and is further bolstered by Informix Business Solutions' announced analytic offerings to provide the most comprehensive and flexible customer-centric data models.
"Companies face a critical challenge in being able to understand and leverage the data they are getting from their e-Business operations, as well as their traditional businesses," said Mikael Wipperfeld, vice president of marketing, Informix Business Solutions. "We believe that our integrated DataStage and analytic solution will provide a single view of enterprise-wide data, enabling organizations to make fast and intelligent business decisions."
In the future Fujitsu Siemens Computers intends to integrate its data into a Web enterprise portal system and plans to implement DataStage in larger decision support projects. The company will take existing data management solutions and build the infrastructure for other operating systems, including orders and shipments, that will provide transparent, centralized interfaces for Fujitsu Siemens Computers users.
