Amy,

I was just going through some interesting numbers in the earnings report.

For 1999, non-IAG revenue was 12 1/2% of total revenues; Q3 '01 it was 19% of revenues.

Non-IAG lost $600Million in Q3, without the loss operating earnings would have been 17% higher.

Losses as a percent of revenue have been declining for non-IAG segments, but are still substantial. I believe flash is outside of IAG, it's growing very fast, and I assume it is profitable, so that may be a part of why non-IAG is losing less.

I understand that Intel needs to invest in new businesses, and I support that. But I hope Intel has a regular review process to determine the longer term viability / profitability of each of the business segments. It's my guess that a few of the segments account for a large percentage of the losses. I hope the stockholders are not supporting some "pet projects" that may never contribute to the bottom line.
