Barrick held a press conference this morning and said they have fired six of their highest paid Geologists and hired a new whiz kid with the initials E.C. They wouldn't give his so as full name to protect his privacy as he is a very modest individual. Peter Munk was delighted with the new appointment saying that they got him for a bargain and are only paying him half of the combined salaries of the six canned geologists.
The new whiz kid reached prominence recently when he informed the CEO of Barrick and the rest of the world that Barrick has actually only uncovered 6 hundred thousand ounces of gold equivalent on their Los Diablois property. This resource added to an already proven resource of 9 hundred thousand ounces brings the total to only 1.5 million ounces. Barrick has occupied the property for almost a year and were informed their shareholders on several occasions that the property was "exceeding their expectations". A red faced Munk says that the approximately $15 million spent to date was not all lost as at least he found the whiz kid.
Apparently all the staff in Argentian were drinking and the local drugs made them all delirious so says their lawyer.
The press conference was cut short as Mr.Munk and the new kid were playing golf against President Suharto and Bob Hassan and they were running late.
