Your other alternative is simply to roll the put out, depending on where INTC is at expiration. For example, at present you could roll out to a Nov 45 and gain nearly 2 pts in time value while not having to take the stock. Just because you've written an NP doesn't mean you must take the stock. You DO have a choice in the matter.

Regarding your other question about writing a naked call, in one word: NEVER.
