That is possible, but in the view of most scientists, not very likely
You are mistaken. Steven Hawking says, I paraphrase, "It simply doesn't make sense (emphasis mine: sense in terms of the math) to describe the Universe before the Big Bang". One of the most disturbing aspects of QM is that it predicts that there are states, that no matter how unlikely, they exist.
Out of the Copenhagen Interpretation this is known as the "many worlds" hypothesis. You will see that a great number of experiments hint at this, but none can prove it. This gets back to the problems with a closed system proving it's own certainty (Godel). They are related.
I don't say it is irrational to believe what you do because ultimately rationality is just a system, but you do put something in authority between you and the universe - that is unarguable. All you have done is moved the source of the uncertainty form one thing that is constant (you) to another that is historically known to be non-constant (the bible). Heck, maybe THIS time they finally got the word of God right. I kinda doubt it. But, believe away. In my mystical universe, that might make it true for you. Maybe you will go to one of the many universes where what you believe is true.
I really have no idea but, I know that if my atheist or agnostic friends and relatives aren't going to "Heaven" (whatever that means), I'll be well accompanied with people I love and enjoy where ever I'm going. Peace and good-luck on your journey. |
