Slighty OT, but not completely:

Data tidbit of the day:

Today was the third largest gain in percentage terms in Nasdaq history, 7.79%--not surprising given that the point rise we saw.

What did surprise me was in looking at the top 10 rises in the Nasdaq, 8 of them have been during the Nasdaq downdraft since mid March.

Here's the top 10, for those of you that care:

30 May 2000 7.94%
13 Oct 2000 7.87%
19 Oct 2000 7.79%
21 Oct 2000 7.34%
18 Apr 2000 7.19%
25 Apr 2000 6.57%
17 Apr 2000 6.56%
02 Jun 2000 6.44%
08 Sep 1998 6.02%
01 Jun 2000 5.34%

If I was a technician, I would note that 9 of the 10 drops all occurred during an overall market decline, and were not part of an overall rally.

Even the rise in 87 would see the bottom retested in December.

Good thing I'm not a technician.
