KEP, I am 65 years old and do not share your fears. The most fearful thing I can think of, is to leave SS in the hands of a liberal government that has no compulsion in raiding the SS fund for their "give away" programs to those that have paid in nothing.
Obviously, you know nothing of Bush's plan. He has no intention of tapping the fund that is already there. He wants to allow the younger people to be able to pay less to the SSA, and invest the difference (their own money BTW) in the stock market, or however else they want to invest it. Surely you know, as I do, that had we had the opportunity to invest the same amount of money we have paid in to the federal government, we would have a hell of a lot more money for our retirement. If you can't figure that out, you know nothing about mathematics.
The older people will continue on the present course, but the younger people will be given options to have some control over their own retirement years. If you think the government should run the whole show in this case, then you are a weak individual with no self confidence in your abilities, and I would find it necessary to rebuke you for being a lesser form of man. You sound like a sniveling, cowardly, weakling. STAND UP AND BE A MAN, FOR A CHANGE!!!!! ~H~ |
