dba Announces Cost Reductions
October 19, 2000: North Vancouver, B.C. - dba Telecom Corporation (CDNX: DBA) announces that it has made several changes that will result in significant cost savings.
In addition to the previously announced closure of its London, UK office, the company has closed offices in Hong Kong; Sydney, Australia; and Atlanta, Georgia. The company has also reduced staffing at its head office, in North Vancouver. In total, the staff reductions will result in annual cost savings in excess of $1 million.
Garry Hines, President and CEO, said, "as advised previously, we have been examining our total operations, both on the revenue side and the cost side. These reductions were necessary based on how our business is changing and where our revenues are coming from. We have replaced in-house sales staff with distributors in all key markets in which we operate. The internet means that office location is not nearly as important, and we expect our sales volumes to these distributors to continue, and even increase in some areas."
"We are seeing a higher percentage of our revenues coming from the US market, and particularly the CommServer, PC-PBX market. We are working with a number of these developers and adding more on a regular basis. In addition, we are in discussion with a number of companies regarding strategic alliances that could significantly add to our product portfolio."
