Actually, The LATimes wrote a long series of articles that found that AlGore's Vietnam service was bogus, for the following reasons: AlGore entered Divinity School to avoid the draft and left to join the military only when his father looked likely to lose his Senate seat due to his opposition to the Vietnam War and some other issues. AlGore served as a "journalist" and was given body guards to protect him. No other men received such protection. ALGore also later lied, as is his habit, he never saw any kind of combat. AlGore also requested to leave Vietnam before his tour was over and it was granted. The charade was for naught, AlGore Sr. lost. AlGore the Junior later lied and said that his father lost because of his work for civil rights - the father actually opposed the civil rights legislation. I believe the senior "Arnold" lost because he was out of touch after decades in DC and his opposition to restoring some school prayer. AlGore later failed at law school.
